METALCON, the premier global event dedicated solely to the use of metal in design and construction, has announced the keynote speakers for its upcoming annual conference and tradeshow, set to take place in Atlanta from October 30 to November 1, 2024.
Joe Theismann, a former NFL MVP and Super Bowl Champion quarterback, will headline the event as the keynote speaker on Wednesday, October 30, at 9:00 a.m. Theismann will share his “Game Plan for Success,” drawing parallels between his achievements in football and business. As an entrepreneur and former Washington Redskins star quarterback, Theismann’s address will focus on handling pressure, adapting to unexpected challenges, and achieving success both on and off the field. His career was famously cut short due to a severe leg injury during a nationally televised Monday Night Football game against the New York Giants. Now, as an Emmy award-winning analyst and entrepreneur, Theismann offers valuable insights into navigating change and thriving under pressure.
On Thursday, October 31, at 9:00 a.m., Dr. Anirban Basu, Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., will present “The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly: Financial Outlook and Trends for Metal Construction.” Dr. Basu, recognized as one of Maryland’s 50 most influential people and one of the region’s 20 most powerful business leaders, will delve into the economic factors impacting the metal construction industry. His analysis will cover topics such as interest rates, global geopolitical tensions, wage dynamics, business confidence, demographics, rising consumer debt, and the upcoming presidential election. Dr. Basu will offer a forecast for 2025, addressing potential challenges and opportunities for industry stakeholders.
Judy Geller, METALCON Show Director, expressed excitement about this year’s speakers, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Joe Theismann, a renowned sports figure, and Dr. Basu, an esteemed economist, as our keynote speakers. Joe’s inspiring journey will motivate our attendees, while Dr. Basu’s expert analysis will provide crucial insights into the economic future of the metal construction and design industry.”
Founded in 1991, METALCON remains the only annual tradeshow and conference dedicated exclusively to metal applications in design and construction. The event is produced by PSMJ Resources, Inc., in partnership with the Metal Construction Association. It is known for its dynamic exhibit hall, extensive educational programs, hands-on training, and interactive learning experiences. This year marks the seventh time the event will be held in Atlanta.
