A Thanksgiving Day blaze has prompted an investigation into its origins as it engulfed a commercial establishment.

On Thanksgiving, a fire emergency unfolded at the premises of ABC Supply Co. Inc. located on Beverage Hill Avenue in Rhode Island, sparking swift action by firefighters. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., with flames erupting from the rear of the structure. A dense plume of smoke billowed forth from the building, shrouding the surrounding vicinity and visible from considerable distances.

Battalion Chief David Cairrao provided insights to 12 News, revealing that the fire’s probable point of ignition was external to the building, although the exact source remains shrouded in uncertainty.

Cairrao elucidated that an adjoining two-story structure clad in metal eventually collapsed, facilitating the fire’s ingress into the main edifice. The conflagration propagated rapidly due to the presence of highly combustible construction materials stockpiled within the facility.

Bringing the situation under control demanded the diligent efforts of firefighters over the course of several hours.

“The building materials were densely stacked from the floor to the ceiling,” Cairrao remarked. “Hence, it was nearly impossible for us to discern if we were effectively suppressing the flames.”

Fortunately, there are no indications that individuals were present within the building at the time of the incident, and there have been no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire remains a mystery, with investigations ongoing to shed light on its origins.
