Avila’s Roofing LLC, based in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, has been cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for endangering its employees by not providing proper fall protection measures. The company was found to have workers operating at heights of up to 27 feet without the necessary fall protection gear on the roof of a commercial building in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Furthermore, OSHA discovered that the company had not adequately trained its employees on how to handle fall hazards and had allowed them to work without proper eye and face protection despite potential risks of injury.

OSHA’s inspection resulted in Avila’s Roofing receiving citations for two willful violations, two serious safety violations, and one other-than-serious violation. Consequently, the company now faces proposed penalties amounting to $328,143.

This isn’t the first time Avila’s Roofing has faced such issues. OSHA has previously conducted five inspections at the company’s worksites in Honesdale and Scranton, Pennsylvania, resulting in a total of $178,649 in penalties due to repeated failures to adhere to federal regulations concerning fall protection.
